12. Unique Saint Louis spotted amber greyhound weight, the three-dimensional canine lies on a textured white ground inside a hidden blue and white lace filigree torsade. This detailed design represents the only known weight of its type. The three-dimensional design exhibits an impressive display of skill. The style of the dome and the torsade are consistent with other designs from the Saint Louis factory. The torsade twists down to the left, a characteristic generally associated with Baccarat weights. This piece was formerly part of the Guggenheim Collection. (See Sotheby’s London November 20, 1960 sale, lot 31) See top view on p. 5. Diameter 3 1/8". $4000–5000

14. Saint Louis carp sulphide weight, the three-dimensional silvery fish, with finely detailed head, scales and fins, floats over a red, white and green jasper ground. Red and white glass placed near the fish’s mouth make it appear as though it is feeding. "This is more than just another sulphide. The three-dimensional molded sulphide fish resembling a fully grown carp is so long that it nearly bisects the weight. We see it nibbling at what looks like a piece of red bait or a smaller goldfish. . ."—The Encyclopedia of Glass Paperweights. Diameter 2 7/8". $800–1000
