with numerous furled pink petals, grows on a stalk, inside a
tiara of variegated spring green leaves, over a star-cut ground.
Small piece of cullet below the stalk to the left. "So called
because of its numerous petals, the unmistakable splendor of
the thousand-petaled rose speaks of a love with boundless
intensity."-The Art of the Paperweight-Challenging Tradition."The
realistic features of these three-dimensional flowers are the
way the petals remain closed in the center, suggesting a half-opened
flower, and the lovely rose coloring which ranges from softest
pink to dusty velvet red."-The Encyclopedia of Glass
Paperweights.Diameter 3". $8000-10,000

32. Baccarat pompon garland
weight, the flower, composed of numerous yellow recessed

a garland of white and red stardust/bulls-eye canes, alternating
with emerald, white, ruby and pale yellow pastry mold canes.
Some cullet in the weight. "Baccarat cleverly composed the

millefiori cane, effectively forming a large complex cane."-The
Art of the Paperweight-Challenging Tradition.Diameter 3 1/8".
$4000-6000

33. Baccarat miniature
pompon weight, the flower, with white recessed C-shaped
petals, around pale yellow stardust stamens, on a stalk with

provide strength in times of adversity. Diameter 2". $1500-2500

34. Saint Louis
pompon weight, the flower, with feathered white petals
around a small complex blue and yellow millefiori cane, on a
stalk with a white bud and variegated emerald green leaves, over
a white double-swirl latticinio ground, with translucent pink
glass sandwiched between the swirls of the filigree. Some striation
in the dome. "Unlike Baccarat, the flower petals here are
often carefully bled out into the surrounding clear glass, giving
the flower a gossamer quality that is one of the triumphs of
paperweight-making."-The Encyclopedia of Glass Paperweights.Diameter
2 15/16". $3500-4000

white double-swirl latticinio ground. "The fuchsia was first
cultivated in European greenhouses during the early eighteen
hundreds. The flower caught on almost immediately, becoming a
status symbol among the bourgeoisie. The owner of a fuchsia was
viewed as an extremely fashionable person with good taste. The
painterly portrayal immortalizes the Victorian predilection for
the flower."- The Art of the Paperweight-Challenging
Tradition."The detailing of the large scarlet and blue
blossom with buds in two stages, and primary and secondary leaves,
combines to make an ensemble whose valentine grace and ravishing
color are not soon forgotten."-The Encyclopedia of Glass
Paperweights.Diameter 2 3/4". $2500-3250
