181. Johne Parsley 1989 dogwood bouquet weight containing three green-spotted dogwood blossoms, with upright green and yellow stamens, on gathered stems with clusters of orange and yellow buds, and striped yellow and green leaves. "Using techniques and skills polished over many years, Parsley’s paperweights reveal an extraordinary level of perfection, especially when one considers that most of his weights are miniatures. For Johne, a weight measuring 2 1/2" to 3" is a super magnum!"—Paperweight News(Vol. XIV, No. 1). From the Winters collection. Diameter 2 11/16". $1100-1400

182. Mayauel Ward 1997 orchid weight containing two pink blossoms with complex orange, yellow and green centers, on a white stalk with slender green leaves, a rhizome and a trailing root system, over an opaque black ground. Signed and dated. "While Ward’s flowers exhibit the delicacy and vibrancy of a real flower, they are seldom one hundred percent botanically accurate. He begins his work by closely studying different blooms that intrigue him. Ward often takes details of several different flowers and combines them to create a new flower. This is one of the aspects that make studying his bouquets exciting. For example, sometimes a violet will have a daisy center, or a single orchid will take into account the best qualities of several different species of the genus. These charming details—usually lost on the inexperienced botanist, make his pieces a source of continual enjoyment and discovery to seasoned flower growers."—Paperweight News(Vol. XV, No. 1). From the Winters collection. Diameter 2 5/16". $300-450

183. Mayauel Ward 1990 white bellflower bouquet weight containing a cupped blossom, with ridged petals around yellow stamens and white pistil, next to a partially open blossom, on brown stems with three closed buds and green leaves. Signed and dated. From the Winters collection. Diameter 2 5/16". $400-600

184. Mayauel Ward 1994 primrose bouquet weight containing an orange primrose, with black filament stamens, on stems with two yellow clematis blossoms, a pale blue bellflower and a stalk of white morning glories. Signed and dated. From the Winters collection. Diameter 2 3/4". $400-600

185. Mayauel Ward 1990 braided bouquet weight containing two white primrose blossoms, with black filament stamens, a cluster of blue calla lily-type blossoms, two yellow morning glories and a purple bellflower, on green, brown and white stems, with closed buds and green leaves. Signed and dated. From the Winters collection. Diameter 2 1/4". $300-400

186. Perthshire Paperweights/Johne Parsley collaborative warden pears on lace piedouche weight displaying a pair of ripening yellow pears on a stem with a white blossom and green leaves, inside a garland of pink complex canes, on parallel strips of white latticinio. The arrangement is set on a swirling white latticinio pedestal with a pair of pink, white and blue spiral torsades. Circular top facet with two rows of circular side facets. Limited edition of 35. A signature cane identifies this as the work of Johne Parsley and Perthshire master gaffer Peter McDougall. "Parsley’s lampwork captures the splendor of the fruit as portrayed in the famous Traité des arbre fruitiers by Pierre Jean Francois Turpin, while McDougall’s canework heightens the delicacy of this grand presentation."—The Art of the Paperweight—Challenging Tradition.(See The Art of the Paperweight—Challenging Tradition,p. 48; The Complete Guide to Perthshire Paperweights,p. 153) see side view p. 27. Diameter 2 15/16", height 2 11/16". $1800-2500
