1973 patterned millefiori weight containing a central
disc composed of complex cog and star canes, in pink, lime, white,
turquoise and yellow, encircled by a garland of spaced pink and
white cog canes and a garland of alternating blue and beige cog
canes, on a translucent cobalt blue ground. Signature/date cane.

194. Perthshire Paperweights
1992 pink and white clematis trellis weight containing
vines of four-petaled blossoms, each with a millefiori center,
and buds, on green and brown vines with different types of green
and brown leaves, clinging to a golden trellis above a translucent
emerald ground. Signature cane. Limited edition of 300. "Sometime
in 1967 I was sent from the States a copy of the drugstore magazine
Womans Day published in 1965, which contained
a magnificent article on the weights of the Bergstrom Art Center
and Museum. I nearly choked. Up to that time I knew nothing of
the existence of antique weights and as Paul Hollister said in
his book, I thought Baccarat was a card game and Saint
Louis a town on the Mississippi River. I thumbed through
that volume and compared the pieces with the junk and rubbish
with which I had been so proudly familiar for the last seven
years. I showed it to the craftsmen and they, as all craftsmen
do, said, We can do as well as that, and I said,

1994 clematis bouquet weight containing a central pink
clematis, with a complex millefiori center, on a stalk with smaller
clematis, flax and fantasy flowers, in turquoise, cobalt blue,
pink, periwinkle, white and pale yellow. The design decorates
a webbed blue cushion. Signature/date cane. Limited edition of

Paperweights 1996 ladybug weight, the black-spotted red
insect, with black head, white eyes and antennae, crawls over
a leaf on a rose plant containing three furled blue blossoms
with yellow stamens. Top facet and two rows of circular side

the spaced silhouettes of a dog, a cat, a kangaroo and a penguin
around a central sailboat silhouette, set in a sea of pink and

Paperweights 1973 faceted pink clematis weight, the flower,
with white and fuchsia petals around a central signature cane,
grows on a stem with green leaves over a grid-cut ground. Circular
