201. J Glass/John Deacons 1983 pink and white dahlia weight, the flower composed of five tiers of petals around a blue cog cane. Green leaves peek out from beneath the flower. Signature/date cane. "John Deacons, a skilled designer trained at the Edinburgh College of Art, formed ‘J’ Glass in 1979 in Crieff, Scotland. The company derived its name from the enigmatic ‘J’ signature cane found in certain nineteenth-century Bohemian weights. Deacons chose this same mark to honor the unknown creator of those ingenious weights and to identify his own skillful creations.
