211. Caithness Glass/Helen MacDonald 1998 The Raj weight. An abstract Indian palace, created from amber glass and bubbles, rests inside a teardrop-shaped crystal dome engraved with an intricate pattern, including a train of walking elephants bearing the Raj and his servants. The design, which is cut with a flat front window, is mounted on an amber foot. Signed. Limited edition of 50. 212. Caithness Glass/Alastair MacIntosh 1997 Hermitage weight. An elongated bubble floats above a plain of tiny bubbles, encircled by a garland of translucent emerald glass, inside an amethyst-flashed dome with fancy cutting. This design was inspired by the definition of a hermitage: A solitary dwelling place, usually remote, to attain peace and tranquillity. Signed. Limited edition of 50. 213. Caithness Glass/Whitefriars/Alastair MacIntosh 1997 Golden Mitre weight. A wispy yellow freeform floats above a sparkling goldstone ground inside a chisel-cut amber-flashed overlay, decorated with a fancy grid-cut pattern around the base. Limited edition of 50. 214. Caithness Glass/Helen MacDonald 1998 Aquaflora weight. An abstract blossom, composed of four cobalt blue petals around a central spiked chartreuse form, decorated with four large bubbles, is cradled inside a field of evenly spaced bubbles on an aqua ground. Four and one faceting with fancy cutting around the sides of the piece. Signed. Limited edition of 75. 215. Caithness Glass/Colin Terris 1997 Firework Fiesta weight. A large bubble nestles inside a translucent pink and amber form, below a field of bubbles and an abstract amethyst form, in a mitre-cut crystal dome decorated with a spiral green thread. Signed. Limited edition of 50. "Colin Terris, a graduate of the Edinburgh College of Art, specialized in glass design and, in 1960, went to Norway to further his skills in the intricate art of copper wheel glass engraving. 216. Caithness Glass/Colin Terris 1996 Serendipity weight. A large dimensional white eight-toothed cog form, cradles an organic cupped blue form with tendrils, on a teal green ground, inside a geometric faceted dome with fancy vertical flutes around the base. Signed. Limited edition of 50. "Colin Terris was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 1991 in recognition of his contribution to British glass, and his work can be seen in most major paperweight collections.
