ribbon bouquet garland colorground weight
containing five flowers, in pink, turquoise, Persian
blue and yellow on gathered stems tied with a gold aventurine
ribbon, over a translucent cobalt blue ground, inside a spaced
garland of pink complex cog canes. From the Winters collection.

224. Paul Ysart/Harland
signed circular garlands millefiori colorground weight containing
five circlets of complex cog canes, in cobalt blue, fuchsia,
amethyst, spring green, and white, around a central flattened
pink and white complex cog, on a translucent cobalt blue ground.
A spaced garland of complex fuchsia and white cogs decorate the
outside of the design. "Paperweights produced during the
four or five years of Harlands existence usually had an
H cane inserted. Many of the weights with the H canes were sent
to an agent in Glasgow, who called on the quality gift trade
retailers in the North of England and Scotland."Scottish

225. Paul Ysart latticinio
spoked millefiori weight containing a central millefiori
disc composed of complex cog, quatrefoil and latticinio canes,
in orange, emerald, pink, amethyst, yellow and white on an opaque
blue cushion. Colored latticinio spokes, in orange, copper aventurine,
powder blue and white, radiate from the disc. A balloon-shaped
bubble has been placed at the end of every other spoke. (See

226. Paul Ysart
jasper ground trefoil weight containing five trefoil-shaped
clusters of complex cogs, in fuchsia, amber, cobalt blue, chartreuse,
spring green and white, around a central powder blue cog cane
on a green and white jasper ground. A spaced garland of fuchsia,
white and chartreuse cog canes has been placed around the exterior
of the design. (See Scottish Paperweights,pp. 110-128)

227. Charles
Kaziun snake weight, the reptile, with red and yellow
coils, slithers across a bed of chartreuse and white pebbles.
The head of the snake is raised in the air. "Even from a
distance, a Kaziun is recognizable because of his
use of rich colors, which the artist feels is of primary importance.
Close inspection of his pieces reveals the high quality of his
workmanship and his obvious respect for perfection, lessons learned

Kaziun miniature yellow daffodil weight with six petals
around a flared millefiori cane containing stardust stamens.
The blossom, which rests on three green sepals, floats on a translucent
turquoise ground. Signature cane. "Charles Kaziun, one of
the pioneers of paperweight making, has been working since 1939
to rediscover the lost techniques of the French glass factories.
His work includes a wide range of millefiori, lampwork and crimp
