on a translucent blue-green ground decorated with chartreuse

butterfly weight, the insect, with flattened millefiori
wings attached to a brown body with yellow antennae and white
eyes, flutters above a bed of chartreuse and emerald pebbles.
Signature/date cane. Acid etched with the Baccarat insignia.

276. Baccarat 1993 butterfly
and roses weight, the insect, with pale pink and yellow
millefiori wings, flutters over a pair of red roses with furled
centers, growing on stems with a closed bud and green leaves,
over an opaque yellow ground. Limited edition of 150. Signature/date
cane. Acid etched with the Baccarat insignia. "Because Baccarat
had no records of the millefiori technique, it took several years
of research and experimentation before they succeeded in producing
millefiori pieces in 1957. With the advice and help of Francis
Whittemore, Baccarat craftsman Jean Benoit mastered the technique
of lampwork style paperweights, and in 1974 began an annual lampwork
collection. These weights present a variety of flowers, fruit,
