Clichy open concentric colorground millefiori paperweight.
Composed of a central pastry mold cane in white and green
with a pink flounce, encircled by a chain of complex floret canes
in green, pink and white. The center is framed by a border garland
containing six sets of pink and green roses; set on an opaque
turquoise ground.
"Coloring is warmer and richer than Baccarat and more decisive
than Saint Louis. Clichy rose canes are numerous and may appear
in variety and quantity in a single weight."-The Encyclopedia

Lot 25
Clichy spaced complex millefiori paperweight, with
nineteen individual styles of typical Clichy canes in vibrant
hues, set on clear ground. The colors include pale to salmon
pink, moss green, turquoise, cobalt blue, purple, maroon and
white, on clear ground. Includes one symmetrical white and green
rose.

Lot 26
Clichy colorground paperweight. At the center, a snow
white pastry mold cane anchors the four clusters of millefiori
garlands in green, turquoise, pink, claret and white. Studded
at points between the blooms of canes, is a smaller pastry mold
cane in claret that seems to be just breaking through the surface
of a luxurious purple opaque ground.

Clichy miniature scattered complex millefiori paperweight
with a central pink and green rose, encircled by spaced pastry
mold and cog canes on clear ground.
"...(In) 1851, as the only French factory to show at the
Crystal Palace in London, (Clichy) received international acclaim.
It is suggested that Clichy glassworkers were hired by English
firms to set up similar production lines because its glass was

Clichy scattered complex millefiori paperweight, including
three pink and green roses, on clear ground.
"Clichy presumably produced the greatest numbers of all
French paperweights. A total of about 10,000 pieces seems realistic...
After 1870 (and the Franco-Prussian War) no further paperweight
