Lot 49
Saint Louis cherries paperweight. With a gestural
energetic style, the lampworked branch, leaves and fruit seem
to spring away from each other. The red cherries look ready to
jump from the stems. Yet, the patterned printies both reign in,
and add complexity to the image.
"The various faceting treatments give the illusion of...
more cherries on a bough. This is imaginative paperweight-making."-The
Encyclopedia of Glass Paperweights.
Diameter 2 5/8" Estimate: $2250 - 3250 |

Lot 52
Baccarat strawberry paperweight with three ripening
berries, one new and emerald green, the other two growing larger
and fleshier in pink, yet with a pale pearly cast that unripe
strawberries display. The stylized green leaves fan out like
French fleur-de-lis. A dramatic star-cut ground radiates through
the clear glass.
"The artisans at Baccarat ingeniously fused hexagonal rods
together to create the dimensional berries in this interpretation
of the strawberry..."-The Art of the Paperweight-Challenging
Tradition.
Diameter 2 13/16". Estimate: $2500 - 3500 |

of five turnips: two purple, two white and one red, each with

"The day is coming when a single carrot, freshly observed,
will set off a revolution."-
Paul Cezanne (1839-1906).
