Bohemian miniature millefiori paperweight with a burst
of white stardust and a bull's-eye center, encircled by a ring
of six spaced pale blue and white complex cog canes, and a border

clear ground.

from thousands of tiny bubbles.
"The glassworkers were encouraged in most factories to test
their skills with this spare glass, usually on their own time."-Old
English Paperweights.
Height 4 15/16". Estimate: $350 - 450 |

Lot 81
Baccarat scrambled paperweight with sections of canes,
twists and latticinio in electric blue, red, green, pink, yellow
and white. Although this work is from the classic period of paperweights,
the playful chequered design has an Op-Art quality, with its
unique twists and spliced latticinio. An antique with a futuristic
sensibility.
Diameter 3 1/8". Estimate: $700 - 1000 |

Saint Louis clematis bouquet paperweight with one
pink blossom, one blue blossom and light green serrated leaves

"We tend to forget... that as handmade objects (paperweights)
were subject not only to the habits and capabilities of the artists
who made them but also to wide variations in the quality and
content of the glass. Paperweight-making was an art, not a science."-Glass
Paperweights of the New-York Historical Society.
Diameter 2 3/8". Estimate: $1000 - 1500 |
