Surrounded by six blushing pears, green leaves and a border ring of sky blue canes; 1979 signature/date cane. Faceted. Limited edition of 1000. "The 1970s, with the designs of Geoffrey Baxter, brought Whitefriar's to the forefront of paperweight making, and in the following years they produced Christmas and limited edition paperweights and inkwells that were the match of any modern paperweight of the day."-Old English Paperweights. The pastel canes create subtle variations in close packed color, but each cane still shows its tiny floret or star features in striking detail. The diffuse heart is encircled by bundled pastel honeycomb canes and a border garland; 1974 signature/date cane. Faceted. Diameter 3 1/8". Estimate: $300 - 350

Five and one facets. "In the late 1960s Mr. Geoffrey P. Baxter, the firms Chief Designer, took a personal interest in their paperweight production.
