Lot 239
Whitefriars 1979 Christmas paperweight. . A finely
de-tailed partridge perches at the top of a pear tree. Surrounded
by six blushing pears, green leaves and a border ring of sky
blue canes; 1979 signature/date cane. Faceted. Limited edition
of 1000.
"The 1970s, with the designs of Geoffrey Baxter, brought
Whitefriar's to the forefront of paperweight making, and in the
following years they produced Christmas and limited edition paperweights
and inkwells that were the match of any modern paperweight of

Lot 240
Whitefriars close concentric millefiori paperweight with
a large, central complex cane. The pastel canes create subtle
variations in close packed color, but each cane still shows its
tiny floret or star features in striking detail. The diffuse
heart is encircled by bundled pastel honeycomb canes and a border
garland; 1974 signature/date cane. Faceted.

Whitefriars Farfalla butterfly paperweight with pink
and white millefiori wings, encircled by a green looped garland
on cobalt blue ground; 1978 signature/date cane. Five and one
facets.
"In the late 1960s Mr. Geoffrey P. Baxter, the firms Chief
Designer, took a personal interest in their paperweight production.
He has utilized a wide range of colors that Whitefriars employs
in their stained glass production to improve the appearance of
their weights. ...Silhouette designs of birds and insects, using
millefiori canes on color grounds, have resulted in some striking
