cane of the Nativity and two angels on a blue carpetground; signature/date
cane. Five and one facets. Limited edition of 1000.
"Some of these limited edition weights contain figure canes
produced from bunches of very small millefiori canes. The resulting
figure canes have a range of color and softness of appearance
that is not seen in similar canes made from solid color rods.
...It is interesting to note that throughout their entire paperweight
producing history Whitefriars has utilized only millefiori canes
as their design elements. They have never produced any weights
using lampwork or ...any overlay weights."-"Whitefriars

Whitefriars 1976 Olympics paperweight with a torch
cane and five interlaced circular garlands, in the flag motif
of the popular international games, on dark blue ground. Signature
cane and date canes; faceted. Limited edition of 1000.
"Whitefriars Glass, a factory in London that some believe
has been producing millefiori paperweights since about 1848,
closed its doors in 1981. Immediately thereafter, Caithness Glass
of Scotland purchased the complete stock of Whitefriars millefiori
canes, the right to use the company's name and logo, and its
extensive color library, which included formulas for several
thousand glass colors."-The Art of the Paperweight.
