Lot 290
Steven Lundberg/Bob Banford collaborative jewelry jar.
The lid is splendidly decorated with an unencased bouquet of flowers, including three cabbage roses and four clematis, nestled on a bed of leaves. The nuanced coloring of the bouquet, including a warm yellow, Danish blue, and mauvish rose, are all complemented by the aqua and white swirling ground, which accentuates the jar's curves. Banford noted it was his first lampwork rose made in the style of his father, Ray Banford. Signed under the lid by both artists and dated 1995. "B" signature cane in the bottom of the jar. Limited edition of 10. (See, p 43, Paperweight Collaborations: A Celebration of Glass Artistry, Annual Bulletin of the PCA, 1996.)
Height 4 1/8". $1100-1500

Lot 291
Important Venetian antique lampworked six-sided scent bottle
with a single portrait cane; an homage to Saint Mark in the emblematic "lion." The feline face, with a wide nose and full mane, is featured with tiny angel wings and an open book, presumably the eponymous gospel. The cane is surrounded by blooms of metallic gold and copper aventurine, with swirls of blue, yellow, white, and black glass. The chatelaine chain and ring are intact, and the bottle is topped with a hinged metal stopper inset with a gemstone of colored glass. Unknown Venetian manufacturer, late nineteenth century.
Height 2 13/16". $900-1400
