*Antique Clichy chequer paperweight,
with a central composite cane of pressed whorl canes, meant to resemble the Clichy rose, and a signature 'C' cane, along with an assortment of cog, pastry mold and floret canes nestled between airy segments of white latticinio with transparent turquoise overlay. Bruises and slight annealing crack on side below the level of turquoise. Diameter 2 1/2". $2000-2500

*Antique Clichy swirl-pattern paperweight, i
n two bands of color, opaque pink and white, pinwheeling around a central pastry mold cane, composed of white and red alternating ribbons and a rich red center, with a cluster of stave canes around a whorl cane. "Contained within paperweight spheres, swirls seem to be captured in mid-spin, their momentum unspent. Colorful and dramatic, they have an appeal and energy quite different from those of delicate millefiori gardens." -Geraldine Casper, Glass Paperweights in The Art Institute of Chicago. with five rows of assorted pastry mold canes, in shades of pink, blue, green, red and white, about a red and dark blue composite cane center, within a basket of elongated white staves, in a thalo blue-over-white double overlay; five and one faceting and grid-cut base, painted in red enamel with accession number 1965.284. Minor uneven areas to overlay.
