Lot 142
Debbie Tarsitano 1986 paperweight,
composed of a curved branch of blue and yellow lampwork flowers and green leaves, which frames a rooster and sun engraved by Max Erlacher. Tarsitano's fine lampwork has evolved from her early inspiration by the floral designs of nineteenth-century Baccarat and Saint Louis, but her design approach, with a blend of engraving, etching, color, and texture within her lampwork create an artistic statement which reinterprets the paperweight form, as both personal and contemporary. She now considers her paperweights to be "flamework objects," linking modern glass art with the encased glass antiques, but no longer restricted by the tradition. Signed/dated and signature cane.
Diameter 3 5/8". $4000-5000
