Lot 158
Bob Banford column paperweight, with a central purple
and yellow pansy, a yellow wheatflower, a blue and white primrose,
dark green leaves and entwined stems, on clear ground; signature
cane. Multiple facets. "Bob's fascination with glassmaking
is very much in keeping with the longtime interest his family
has had in the profession. Bob's grandfather knew Emil Larson,
an American glass craftsman well known for his crimped rose paperweights.
Bob's father worked as an antique dealer for many years... Also,
the Banford family has its roots in the Vineland, New Jersey
area, a region rich in the glass making tradition."

Ray Banford single, upright pink cabbage rose paperweight,

miniature weight, and from that point on advanced to regular-sized
weights in a large variety of designs." -Ruth Kaplan,
PCA Bulletin (1985-86).
