Charles Kaziun, Jr. "Sun Bonnet Sue" silhouette
paperweight, with the central portrait cane surrounded by
complex millefiori canes on a rich turquoise ground. With five-and-one
facets. Signature 'K' cane embedded in a complex millefiori pattern.
"Experiment he did-using many colors of discarded household
bottles and a couple of coffee cans converted into crude benzene
burners. 'With very little knowledge of glass chemistry, some
of these unusual glass experiments succeeded rather well...'"

Charles Kaziun, Jr. morning glory paperweight with
a blue-and-white-striped flower, dangling from a green vine with
three leaves, and a bud, over amethyst ground. A gold 'K' on

*Francis Whittemore floral paperweight, composed of
a five-petaled fantasy flower in transparent pink glass, detailed
with white accents and a yellow stamen in the shape of a hollow
star cane, on a tall, slender stem with two long green leaves,
surrounded by six blue star canes, on an opaque white ground.
Signature 'W' cane on reverse. "What began with a childhood
tour of the Blaschka glass flower collection ...led (Whittemore)
to a lifelong exploration of glass. He started blowing glass,
using the most rudimentary tools. He never apprenticed anywhere
and is essentially self-taught." -All About Paperweights.

Charles Kaziun, Jr. pedestal paperweight, with an
upright yellow crimp rose and four green leaves, on a clear,
footed base. "We are fortunate to be able to see in our
time the successive accomplishments of a great craftsman as they
come from the annealing kiln, for the technical excellence-one
may justifiably call it perfection of Kaziun's-paperweights is
on a comfortable par with the fine work from the Classic period."
