Lot 245
D'Albret 1975 faceted Moshe Dayan sulphide paperweight,
and 20 test color silhouettes by artist Gilbert Poillerat. The tester was employed to help determine the coloring for production of Poillerat's bicolored sulphides. It has been determined the "missing" first sulphide of the color set went into use for the paperweight. Dayan (1915-1981) was an Israeli military hero and political leader, and his likeness is encased in a six and one faceted paperweight, over cobalt blue ground, with The Star of David engraved on the base. Signed 'G.P' and dated on the sulphide, and acid etched with the D'Albret insignia. Includes certificate of authentication. The paperweight is of a limited edition of 600. Diameter 2 13/16". The color test set is one-of-a-kind.
Height 12", Width 9 1/2". $300-500
