Lot 274
Perthshire Paperweights 1969 crown paperweight, with
caramel and royal blue twists alternating with white latticinio
ribbons, emanating from a complex center of close packed cog
canes. "Perthshire Paperweights started producing weights
in 1968, but this special piece is the first piece to be issued
by the company in a limited edition. The edition
quickly
sold out. Possibly because it was the first collector's crown
weight of real quality at a time when collectors were aware that,
to acquire a quality crown weight would have meant buying at
auction a Saint Louis or similar antique for several thousand
dollars. The weight was made by Jack Allan and designed by Alan
Tilman and was sold for $60." -Robert G. Hall, Scottish
Paperweights, p. 60. Signature and date cane. Limited edition
of 268.
Diameter 3". $600-1000 |
