and I'd lock it with a zipper,
If I only had a heart."

The entire proceeds of the winning bid on this specially selected artwork, will go towards the Foundation's Paperweight Museum, with the purpose of ensuring that the art of the paperweight thrives for many years to come, and to establish the Paperweight Museum in Santa Cruz as an educational destination where searching scholars (or the merely curious), can come and study the history of fine glass, and become inspired while learning about this enduring, yet dynamic artform.

Lot 306
Parabelle Glass 1997 spaced millefiori paperweight,
this contemporary piece is a sweet-hearted design, composed with a central red heart and star complex cane, encircled by a ring of pink roses, with an outer garland of spaced red hearts and stars, on upset muslin. Signed and dated, from a limited edition of 10.
Diameter 3 1/4". (PG314) $900-2000

The Paperweight Museum is the fruit of our personal love for paperweights. All the effort that went into the creation of our new museum space comes from our personal passion for the art form.
Our museum is different from other museums around the country, in that its only focus is paperweights. The sole mission of the paperweight museum is to see that paperweights receive the recognition and representation they deserve in the art world. We have created a place for scholarly learning where curators and experienced collectors can share knowledge and insights about this special art. We have also created a welcoming space, where anyone from any walk of life, from students, to future glass artists, can visit and become inspired about this glass art.
Even the most spectacular flowers grow from small seeds. We know our museum is small, but we are very proud of the dream we have started to cultivate. As our endowment grows, we hope to eventually purchase an independent building to house the museum's collection.
The International Paperweight Society Foundation is a designated 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Unlike other museums, the Paperweight Museum does not currently have an endowment to support it for generations to come. We rely on the generosity of paperweight enthusiasts from around the world to aid in the acquisition of pieces for our permanent collections and to help pay for operating costs.
