Lot 61
*Antique Saint Louis garlanded sulphide paperweight
of Louis Napoleon Bonaparte, the alternating millefiori in citron yellow and cornflower blue, all over clear ground. Sporting thick hair and a moustache, the portrait seems rugged, fit and exemplar in every way, as the leader of the Third Empire. After the death of Napoleon II, he became head of the dynasty, with ill-fated attempts to seize the French throne. Eventually, with the support of the Bonapartists, Napoleon III was elected to the presidency in 1848, assuming the title of emperor soon after.
Diameter 2 3/4". $600-900
