Lot 111
*Antique Val St. Lambert millefiori and torsade paperweight.
An unusually colored green central cane, resembling an exotic sliced vegetable, is held in place by the red, white and blue "barber-pole" twist, creating a diamond, or God's-eye shape. Over the sunny-side up yellow ground, a filigree torsade encircles the compressed-looking center gracefully. As it has been said of these rare Val St. Lambert designs, they have an ice-cream parlor gaudiness, that sets them quite apart.
Diameter 3 9/16". $500-1000

Lot 113
Antique, likely Bohemian, sulphide of a dog paperweight,
on jasper ground comprised of red, blue, white and yellow. The sulphide modeling is good, and the cameo is well centered in the glass. As for the canine motif, the subject was a popular one for artists of the 19th-century. Whether as a working dog, or merely a companion, they had become honorary members of the human family.
Diameter 2 13/16". $400-600
