Lot 149
*Victor Trabucco 1985 three-layered blue flower paperweight.
Styled after the Classic-era flowers, the plump, multi-petaled,
blue-satin flower could be a clematis, accentuated with a trio
of buds, and emerald leaves all around the flower's face. Trabucco
grows his flowers under a great deal of good glass, and this
unadorned floral rests within a splendid high-dome presentation.
Scratch signed and dated, and an unusual script "VT"
behind a leaf, which appears to have been done at the torch,
rather than a pulled cane.
Diameter 3 15/16". $750-1200 |

*Victor Trabucco 1981 "Nature in Ice" compound
faceted paperweight, with a yellow and black butterfly passing
a simple bouquet of daisies and bluebells. Trabucco is not only
inspired by Classic-era designs, but has continued to expand
the vocabulary of glass paperweights, exploring unusual presentations
such as this early work in the Ice series. Signed "Proof"
and dated.
Height 2 5/8"; Width 3 7/16". $800-900 |

Lot 152
*Cape Cod Glass Works scrambled paperweight, with
millefiori, rods and latticinio, ca. 1990s. In this "end-of-day"
blend, the elusive signature and date canes seem to be showing
themselves, but are twisted and jumbled-up to make precise dating
very difficult. As signature cane expert Andrew Dohan has said,
"all (Burchfield) paperweights are signed. However, a magnifying
glass may be needed to find the signature." Sticker on base.
Diameter 2 9/16". $300-400 |
