Lot 189
*Saint Louis 1980 pansy paperweight, on upset muslin
ground. The lampwork and lace are certainly made to recall the
work of antique artisans, yet 19th-c. Saint Louis was better
known for its dahlias and nosegays. This motif suggests the competition
with rival Baccarat remains, even into the 21st c. The preciousness
of the single flower is dramatized with fluted sides. Signature
and date cane in the base. Limited edition of 400.
Diameter 3 1/16". $550-700 |
