Lot 188
*Saint Louis 1973 looped garlands paperweight,
with alternating loops of canes, surrounding a central complex cane on cardinal red ground. Once more, the contemporary artisans are proving their mastery of techniques, and referencing other glasshouses. This work is clearly inspired by the antique garlands of Clichy. Signature and date cane, and paper label. Limited edition of 400.
Diameter 3 1/8". $450-550

Lot 189
*Saint Louis 1980 pansy paperweight,
on upset muslin ground. The lampwork and lace are certainly made to recall the work of antique artisans, yet 19th-c. Saint Louis was better known for its dahlias and nosegays. This motif suggests the competition with rival Baccarat remains, even into the 21st c. The preciousness of the single flower is dramatized with fluted sides. Signature and date cane in the base. Limited edition of 400.
Diameter 3 1/16". $550-700

Diameter 3 3/16". $400-500
