*Perthshire Paperweights 1975 multi-colored butterfly
paperweight, surrounded by a garland of millefiori set on
a red cushion. Nearly a century after Baccarat artisans in the
Classic-era, the Crieff, Scotland artisans release their version
of the lovely farfalla, exhibiting all the finesse they had vowed
to achieve. On this ground color, the winged creature appears
to be settling on pleats of rich, red velvet. Signed "P1975,"
and a paper label. Limited edition of 372.
Diameter 3 1/8". $400-550 |

*Perthshire Paperweights 1980 "Overlay Rose"
faceted paperweight, featuring a petite folded rose with
sepals, stem, leaves, and a closed bud. The tiny flower is set
off well inside the basket-cut glass, with an apple-green flash
overlay, and star-cut base. While still showing deference to
their glassmaking predecessors, in the elaborate cutting and
surface work, the flower is a modest, yet perfectly assured rose--no
more or less is needed, and Perthshire artists knew it. Signed
"P" near the stem. Limited edition of 167.
Diameter 2 7/16". $450-550 |
