composed in a formal cruciform arrangement featuring five
blushing pears, four long green leaves and studded with four
red cherries, inside a swirling white latticinio basket.

Lot 67
*Antique Sandwich Glass Company weedflower paperweight,
composed of two white upper petals and two lower coral petals,
edged and striped in cobalt blue, divided by a white petal with
three blue stripes. The composite cane stamen, in red, white
and blue, also has dots of gold aventurine, and the leaves show
off good detail.
Diameter 2 7/16". $600-800
"Among the most sought-after paperweights from these
factories are pieces containing red, white and blue single flowers
and floral bouquets with poinsettias, clematis blossoms and pansy-type
bloom known as the weedflower. Like the United States' flag,
these brilliant stylized blooms were created to symbolize the

Lot 68
Antique New England Glass Company nosegay paperweight
on a delicate latticinio cushion, surrounded by two garlands
of green, pink and blue complex millefiori. In typical NEGC form,
the three complex cane flowers are set on four dark green leaves,
"two up and two down like the ears of a pair of listening
animals." One top facet and an interesting pattern of side
faceting.

*Whitefriars "1848" dated close concentric millefiori
paperweight, with rows of cog and quatrefoil canes, in pink,
aqua, cobalt blue, pale green, gold and white, and an 1848 date
cane, in a low, shallow dome. Rough pontil.
Diameter 3 5/16". $500-650
"The paperweights and inkwells with the 1848 date canes
attributed to Whitefriars were made by Arculus and Walsh-Walsh
