"In the greatest period in the history of glassworks (in the first half of the 19th century), there were more than 60 glassworks in the area of Bohemia and Silesia. ...The development of glassmaking in the area of Riesengebirge and Isengebirge was accompanied by a strengthening of dynasties of the glassworks owners. The most famous dynasty in Bohemia was the family of Riedels. In the Silesian part of Riesengebirge it was the family of Preusslers who had the greatest glassmaking traditions. The members of this family had set up glassworks since the beginning of the 17th century."-Glass Paperweights: The Heritage of the 19th Century Riesengebirge and Isergebirge Glassworks.
