sculpture, featuring a white flower stalk and a pink foxglove
stalk, each with a base of leaves, earth and tangled roots, and
a cluster of smaller flowers and berries below. Multiple spirit

Height 5 1/2". $18,000-24,000
"In 1984 Stankard made an attempt to isolate the botanical
imagery with his crystal blocks and thus individualize the
aesthetic experience desired for the viewer. He enclosed all
surfaces of a botanical block with mirrored sides, except the
front and top were the only 'open' areas. Stankard calls the
work a Cloistered Botanical because a cloister is a quiet secluded
place." -Paul J. Stankard: Poetry in Glass. |
