Lot 110
Denali Crystal and Rick Ayotte 1996 "Radiance with Orchids" collaborative sculpture paperweight.
An upright, diamond-cut piece with a bouquet of pink carnations, pink mink protea, two lady's-slipper orchids, and a loop of red ribbon, over translucent pink ground. This one-of-a-kind piece is a collaborative sculpture that fuses the work of two studios together in a rare combination of aesthetics. Ayotte's exploration into three-dimensional works and optical illusions within his glassworks is clearly displayed here, balancing his triumvirate passions of nature, science and art. The entire piece is encased in the medium of crystal, whose very nature, Peter Temple and Desmond Hatfield believe, "is evocative of the human spirit: invisible, intangible, yet whose presence is undeniable." Signed.
Height 5 13/16". $2500-3000
