10th Anniversary Commemorative Paperweight for the Delaware
Valley PCA, the creation organized by Andrew Dohan. Proceeds
from the sale of this lot will be divided equally between the
International Paperweight Society Foundation and the Eileen England
& Lee Kvalnes Scholarship Fund at Wheaton Village. This item
is one of a very limited edition of unique paperweights contributed
by a group of glass artists who collaborated on the project.
The 14 canes in this piece are arranged on a white ground and
surrounded by a garland of cobalt blue and white complex canes
made by Jim Hart, who encased the canes and included his signature
"heart" cane on the underside of the piece. Portrait
canes include: Kabuki mask by Emiko Sawamoto; portrait of a woman
in green dress by Pati Walton; Male/Female Yin/Yang portrait
by Jim Wuerfel; circle of flying birds by Dinah Hulet; portrait
of a girl in blue dress by Loren Stump; three canes by Jesse
Taj, including a spider cane, moon and stars cane, and a red
flower on green ground; portrait of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo,
by Isis Ray; a peacock portrait by Janice Peacock (her signature
cane); heart cane inside a swirl by Melissa Montini; a floral
cane by Will Stokes; a tiny close packed millefiori cane and
the signature/date "DVC 2002 PCA" cane, both made by
Mike Edmondson.
