with a white and chartreuse cane center, encircled by four rings of white canes, having blue, red, or pale yellow centers, and a border of white rods.

Antique Val St. Lambert sulphide magnum paperweight,
with a central sulphide Christ figure, surrounded by a spaced ring of five blue and pink complex canes, with red and white cross centers, on pale blue ground ringed with a red and white, barber-pole, twisted rod. The design is encased in a ruby flash overlay, with geometric top facet and two rows of geometric side facets. A similar sulphide of Joan of Arc from "probably the greatest of all Belgian glassworks" is illustrated in color in The Encyclopedia of Glass Paperweights (Col. Fig. 84). "These paperweights do not turn up very often at European or American auctions; so one must assume that, unless they are secreted in great numbers in Belgian households, not very many were made." -Paul Hollister.

Lot 96
Antique Val St. Lambert scattered millefiori faceted paperweight,
with a red pastry mold cane, surrounded by blue canes, and a red, green, and white striped torsade, on pink marbled ground. Crowned with a translucent cobalt blue overlay, having six and one facets and fancy cutting.
