Lot 105
Rare antique Islington paneled complex millefiori paperweight,
with four wedges of close packed canes in blue, white, and pink, divided by uneven rows of white stardust canes and sixteen-point white cog canes. The close packed arrangement radiates from a red and white complex cane center, which includes green whorl canes and several white canes that contain a black "W", the same as the "W" in the full "IGW" (Islington Glass Works) signature cane. Collector/author Robert Hall has recently confirmed this weight as an Islington: "This new paperweight is extremely important as it has a variety of canes never before seen in Islington examples and could possibly open the door to a few more additions to this glassworks." -Annual Bulletin of the PCA (2003).
