Rick Ayotte 1980 Eastern Bluebird paperweight,
containing an Eastern bluebird, perched on a brown branch with green leaves, over clear ground. Of the Eastern bluebirds native to his New Hampshire homeland, the artist remarks, "One of my favorite birds. A common sight throughout my life that once was a great harbinger of spring. My spirits still soar when I see one." A strikingly similar example is pictured in Songs Without Words: The Art of the Paperweight-Rick Ayotte, p. 32. Signed/dated. #17 of 50.

Rick Ayotte 1985 Monarch butterfly paperweight,
consisting of a large orange and black monarch butterfly, with white spots on its wingtips, flying over a curved branch of cream-colored wood sorrel blossoms and green leaves, over clear ground. The layered composition here is an early example of an approach the artist would become known for: "He has developed a compound layering technique, which gives a sense of depth and realism to his work." -All About Paperweights.
