rose pedestal paperweight, with
an upright, cobalt blue rose with white-tipped petals, supported
by four green leaves, over a clear, footed base. "W"
signature cane under the flower.

Lot 161
Charles Kaziun, Jr. crimp rose pedestal
paperweight, with a tilted,
crimson-red crimp rose, having pink-tipped petals, on a stem
with a red bud and four green leaves, on a clear pedestal base.
"K" complex signature cane, with seven surrounding
heart canes at the flower's stem. "The Kaziun crimp rose
is undoubtedly one of his most famous and most beautiful creations.
Sometimes called the American Beauty Rose, its origin can be
traced back to his days at the University of Pennsylvania
By
his own estimation, he spent more than three years and $3000
in his
quest to create his own version of the legendary
Millville flower." -Magic in the Glass. Similar crimp
rose examples are pictured in Bernard Drabeck's book, Magic in
the Glass, p. 85-86. Height 3 5/8".

Charles Kaziun, Jr. crimp rose pedestal
paperweight, composed
of an upright rose, having light pink-tipped, pale red petals
and four dark green leaves, over a clear, footed base. "K"
complex signature cane, with seven surrounding heart canes, under

in the Glass, p. 85-86.

Charles Kaziun, Jr. stylized flower
paperweight, with a flower
composed of six, white-striped, mauve petals, around a yellow
and orange stardust cane center, on a stem with a mauve bud,
and two green leaves, on a light blue colorground. Gold "K"
on underside.

Charles Kaziun, Jr. double overlay
crimp rose paperweight, containing
an upright, dark red, crimp rose with four green leaves, in a
light blue-over-white double overlay, with five-and-one facets.
"K" complex signature cane with seven surrounding heart
canes, on underside of flower. "Some of Kaziun's most
glorious achievements can be found in the group of weights he
covered with from one to five layers of colors and then had faceted
to reveal the subject. The overlays that he produced appear in
a notable variety of colors, from a sunny yellow to apricot to
maroon to a medium blue that was one of his favorite hues."

Lot 165
Charles Kaziun, Jr. convolvulus flower
on fan trellis paperweight, composed
of a white and pink convolvulus, or morning glory, on a winding
stem with a pink bud, and dark green leaves, climbing a white
trellis, over bright blue ground. A gold bee rests at the top
of the flower. Gold "K" signature on white base. A
strikingly similar example is pictured in the Annual Bulletin
of the PCA, (1983), p. 38. This choice of flower and it's arrangement
introduces some additional species into the Kaziun garden: "Additional
variety is achieved, not only through the use of different colors
and backgrounds, but also by placing the flower on a trellis,
for example,
resulting in an astounding assortment of floral
designs." -Annual Bulletin of the PCA (1983).
